496. Superman Returns 2006

The first time I saw this was at the theater with Aaron when it was released.  The only thing I remembered about it was the scene wherethe little boy flings the piano across the room and that Kate Bosworth is as bland as oatmeal.

I really didn't like this movie, it took me three tries to finally get through it this time.  Dont get me wrong, I understand why people, perticularly people of the male species would enjoy it.  If you're a little boy and getting pick upon or if you're a grown man whos boss is a jerk, working to hard, making not enough money, who wouldn't dream of being all powerful?  Who wouldn't want to secretly be able to fight the bad guys and win? Be handsome and likeable and save the day (and the girl)?

 But,alas Superman just doesn't do it for me.  I thought the film was too long and two boring, remember it took me threetimes to get through?  OnceI fell asleep, the other time I walked away and hung out with Aaron and when I came back in the room I couldn't believe it was STILL playing! 

The other problem I had was the casting.  First things first, I love Parker Posey and I loved her in this role.  She was perfect for it.  Actually she was the only highlight for me. Oh, and Superman's son was cute and I loved it when hewould use his inhaler. While I like Kevin Spacey this just didn't do anything for me.  Superman LOOKED perfect strong chisled jaw Roman nose, classically handsome but, to me, that's where it ended, he was just bland.  And speaking of bland can I just type about Kate Bosworth for a second?  Forgettable good looks, and more than forgettable acting.  She was painful as a go get 'em news reporter, what a joke.  Her husband, totally forgettable as well, actually I did almost forget about him.

I didn't care about their love triangle or them saving the earth.  Theonly question I really have is why would Superman give more then a passing glance at this Lois Lane?

Movies Movies Movies

I found a list of movies I want to watch off of, Empire Top 500 Movies of All Time.  A lot of them I saw a looong time ago, a lot of them are super famous and I have never seen them, a few of them are my all time favorites.  I'm gonna write a little about them as I go along, so I can remember, and maybe talk you into seeing them (or avoiding them) too.

#498. Back to the Future II
Surprisingly, this is one I have not seen before.  I saw the first one and liked it but Back to the Future and I didn't go any further then that.  I thought this movie stood up surprisingly well as it was made in the '80's about the future.  The time he goes forward to is the year 2015 and it was fun to see what 1989 thought the future would hold.  I especially love the 1980's retro cafe where a lot of the action takes place around and even though the plot seems silly it holds up well.  Marty must go back and change the past so his future grandson won't end up in jail while being involved with Biff's grandson and while he's in the future he picks up a sports almanac with all of the sports stats along with it.  

week 2

Billy got all of his stars stars this week, except for one day @ school, he didn't get 2 for writing his name with one reminder. So good week. We added putting glasses on in the morning and putting them in the same spot at night too, so he's doing well. This week we will add brushing teeth and hair in the morning and teeth at night. Still not sleeping well and not eating much. Meds seem to be wearing off a little bit though, not as hyper-focused as before. One playdate here and one at Tristen's this week so that's good, they both went really well.

do homework without complaining OR get dressed w/o being asked
get pajamas on by himself

Very excited about the star system, has all sorts of levels and colors meaning different things, some stars are multi-colored meaning better. I can't keep up with all of it! We are using a dry erase board and a timer, it is working well.

Sleeping has been a big problem. More later...

reading:The New Yorker Stories Anne Beattie (so awesome, how do I not know about her?), The Art of Fielding (meh, I thought I would love it too), Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (better then I thought it would be), 11/26/65, or whatever, the King novel w/aaron LOVE!

making:Valentines cards, Valentines cards, Valentines cards :)

thinking:why has my left hand been numb for 2 weeks and how long is this going to last? excited to see how billy takes care of Huey Duey and Luey, his new pet and friend fish....why am I addicted to Club Penguin????? :), why do I get to about page 50 in any given book I'm reading and then start another?

A day we missed the memo practice was at the other park and Billy standing in the hall at school, he wanted his picture taken, why? Not sure, he just really likes this hall maybe because it echo's.

school time with miss rose, his teacher who puts him to sleep by rubbing his head and his best girl friend Alejandra who can't weigh more then 30 pounds and is 1/2 his size but can pick him up and move him!

The photo my mom calls 'The Boys of Summer" so cute, I love that title. First baseball practice of the year, of Billy's life. Everyone is super excited. So fun, funny and cute to watch these boys running to first base, doing jumping jacks playing catch, you name it, it was funny!

Funniest comment of the day? Ted with, "Oh look, they're already sharing booty." love it! Billy has a 'thing' for 'baby Barron' he talks about him consistently throughout even though they only see each other a couple times a year. They got along so well, not a real surprise because Billy is so good with little guys (or girls!)
